It has been our pleasure to introduce guests to the rewards of railway travel through thoughtfully planned tours across North America, with passenger trains serving as the primary mode of transportation. We are especially proud that most of our guests return for additional journeys. Amtrak has also honored us on several occasions with its prestigious “Golden Spike Society” award.

Few experiences compare with viewing America from the comfort of a fine train. It is a hotel on rails—complete with familiar comforts and an ever-changing panorama beyond the picture windows. Faster ways to reach a destination may exist, but rail travel offers the time and perspective to experience the country up close.

Thoughtfully Designed Itineraries
Each itinerary combines comprehensive sightseeing with comfort and a relaxed pace. Guests never feel hurried, ample personal time is built in, and one-night hotel stays are generally avoided. We select our lodging and restaurant partners with care. Over the years, our railway-based tours have featured the passenger services of Amtrak, VIA Rail Canada, Ontario Northland, Algoma Central, BC Rail, the Alaska Railroad, the Long Island Rail Road, and Metro-North. Popular extended journeys have included the Canadian Rockies, California and the American West, the Colorado Rail Ramble, Southern Sojourn, New Orleans and the Deep South, and the Polar Bear Express.

Deluxe Railway Journeys
Our premier Deluxe Railway Journeys offer the ultimate in first-class land travel aboard restored vintage Pullman parlor, observation, and sleeping cars. Guests enjoy freshly prepared gourmet meals served restaurant-style in our private Santa Fe Railroad dining car, the “Epicurus.” Past Deluxe Journeys have explored West Virginia’s New River Gorge; the celebrated D&H Adirondack route to Montreal; Canadian Wilderness Excursions deep into the Saguenay and Abitibi regions of Ontario and Quebec; the Hudson River line to Albany; the Northeast Corridor to Washington, D.C.; the Central Vermont Railway; and the Water Level Route to Niagara Falls.

Beyond the rails
Our travel experiences have also included Alaskan ocean voyages; Mississippi River cruises aboard the “Delta Queen,” “Mississippi Queen,” and “American Queen”; ferry passages on the Alaska Marine Highway, British Columbia’s “Queen of the North,” and the “Prince of Fundy”; and a distinctive journey across the entire New York State canal network aboard the intimate “Emita II.”
